According to the revised norms, the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category will include households earning an annual income of up to Rs 3 lakh, while the Low Income Group (LIG) segment will be cover those earning between Rs 3-6 lakh per year.
The previous limit, which was fixed three years ago under the previous UPA government, was Rs 1 lakh under EWS and Rs 1-2 lakh for LIG.
