From Berlin to Paris, chasing John Wick on a whirlwind world tour

John Wick 4, starring Keanu Reeves, one of 2023’s most anticipated films, premiered this year with Reeves returning as the famed hitman who is out to get revenge on the High Table.

Wick is always on the move, whether it’s to stay alive or in search of his targets. His constant travels take him from New York City to Morocco and beyond. Well, to explore a little more, let’s take a look at the John Wick Chapter 4’s shooting locations.

The team apparently shot an incredibly important segment in Jordan’s Wadi Rum Desert, around 60 kilometres east of Aqaba Port City, where Wick sails to Morocco to exact vengeance on the Elder, a member of the High Table (a council of twelve crime lords). This place is a sandstone valley and is regarded as one of the world’s most beautiful desert vistas.

New York City, USA

John Wick will always be remembered as a New York mobster movie. Some of the scenes were shot in the cosmopolitan city of New York. The exterior appearance of The Continental Hotel, one of the key attractions of the John Wick series, is the flatiron-shaped Beaver Building at 1 Wall Street Court in Manhattan’s Financial District.

Osaka and Tokyo, Japan

A well-known economic centre on Japan’s Honshu island, Osaka city is best recognised for its cutting-edge architecture, hearty, delectable street food, and vibrant nightlife. In several parts of the city, spectacular scenes of John Wick (Keanu Reeves) sprinting through the streets were shot. Many scenes were also shot in Tokyo, the capital city which has everything, from old temples to neon-lit skyscrapers, making it the ideal location for critical moments in a film like John Wick 4. The follow-up to the hotel sequences was shot at Tokyo’s National Art Center.

The film’s actors and crew also shot numerous crucial moments in Paris, France, a city known for romance, fashion, art, and rich culture.  The Sacré-Coeur Church and the Eiffel Tower were other important settings for the cast and crew. In addition, the scene in which Winston bargains with De Gramont was shot at the Louvre, the world’s largest museum.

Berlin, Germany

The film’s production company also relocated to Berlin, Germany, to film numerous key indoor and exterior sequences starring Keanu Reeves. For some of the pumped-up hotel sequences set in Japan in John Wick: Chapter 4, the International Congress Center’s large, ageing traditional hall was used to shoot the chaotic interiors and rooftop.
