What do you think will happen when the God and the Godfather meet? Netflix’s latest commercial promoting Narcos: Mexico gives you a peek into that very possibility. In the video, Sacred Games’ Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is introduced to a tape of ‘Felix.’ Ganesh then sits down with his accomplice and together they watch Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna) wreak havoc in Mexico by running a successful drug trade.
Ganesh discusses and dissects Diego aka Felix and his way of running his ‘business.’ Later, when Ganesh sees Felix command a room full of powerful men, he says, “Ab lag raha hai shaktishaali. Boss of the bosses (Now he seems like the real deal).”
While leaving the room, Ganesh says, “Nazar rakh ispe. Jis din bhagwan aur godfather ne haath mila liya na, Trivedi bhi nahi bachega. (Keep an eye on him. The day the God and the Godfather join hands, even Trivedi will get what’s coming to him.)”
This might be all fun and games (pun intended), but could an actual crossover ever happen with regards to Narcos: Mexico and Sacred Games? Things might go a little off plot since Sacred Games is based on Vikram Chandra’s novel of the same name. But it’s not as unthinkable as one would imagine it to be. After all, both shows are about crime and are based in the 1980s.
Narcos: Mexico, which stars Diego Luna and Michael Pena in the lead, is currently streaming on Netflix.
