Spyder box office: Mahesh Babu-AR Murugadoss film touches the 150 cr mark in 11 days

Spyder, AR Murugadoss' first venture with Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu, opened to negative feedback especially in Telugu speaking states. The film also marked Mahesh Babu's entry to Kollywood. Apart from Mahesh, the film also features SJ Suriyah and Rakul Preet.

After 15 days of its release, Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu’s Spyder has finally touched the magic number of Rs 150 crores. The bilingual had received severe backlash especially in Telugu speaking states, however has maintained a decent box-office run. The film opened with a decent collection of Rs 51 crore across the world, kicking off a good run at the box office. Spyder was Mahesh Babu’s first straight Tamil film and it received a warm welcome in Chennai. The actor who is fluent with the language has also dubbed for himself. The film’s Tamil version earned Rs 46 lakh while the Telugu version earned Rs 18 lakh. Spyder had also grossed good numbers at the US box office, crossing the USD 150 million mark recently.

Spyder follows the story of an intelligence officer Shiva (Mahesh Babu) who has to nab the psychotic Sudalai. Apart from Mahesh Babu and SJ Suryah, Spyder also has Bharath, RJ Balaji and Rakul Preet Singh in key roles, with music by Harris Jeyaraj. The action-thriller is AR Murugadoss’ first collaboration with the Tollywood superstar.

Meanwhile, Mahesh has started shooting for his next, Bharat Ane Nenu. The movie marks the Telugu debut of Bollywood actor Kiara Advani. Apart from that, Mahesh has also signed another project whose details are still under wraps. If rumours are to be believed, he would soon join hands with Baahubali SS Rajamouli soon for a movie.
