After breaking box office records with his hyper-masculine, violent hit Animal, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is now busy filming Spirit with none other than Rebel Star Prabhas. The shoot officially began last month, with Vanga himself sharing a picture from the mahurat shot on social media. Now, on the occasion of Christmas, which also happens to be Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s birthday, Prabhas took to Instagram to wish the director. Posting a picture of Vanga, likely from the ongoing shoot, he captioned it: “Happy Birthday Bro. Can’t wait for everyone to witness what you’re creating.”

Earlier this year, on Prabhas’ birthday, Vanga had released a special audio teaser from Spirit, a cop drama, giving fans a glimpse into the world they are creating. The teaser suggested that Prabhas’ character has one bad habit, which his senior officer, played by Prakash Raj, cannot tolerate. Interestingly, the audio teaser also featured Vanga’s own voice.
The film has been in the headlines for quite some time, especially this year when Deepika Padukone parted ways with the project over scheduling conflicts and remuneration issues. Her exit sparked a nationwide conversation about acceptable working hours for actors. She was later replaced by Triptii Dimri, who has previously collaborated with Vanga on Animal. The film also stars Vivek Oberoi and Kanchana.
More recently, Sandeep Reddy Vanga took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, lauding it for having a “masculine spine.” Aditya Dhar appreciated Vanga’s words, responding by calling him a brother, noting that both are fighting for better cinema and a braver country.
