Members of Telugu film fraternity criticize Arshad Warsi for comments on Prabhas and Kalki 2898 AD: ‘There’s a limit…’

Netizens were up in arms for Arshad’s opinions on the film and their beloved ‘Rebel Star’. While many started trolling Arshad and his choice of films, some actually played the Devil’s Advocate and argued that there must be a place for criticism, and there is no point putting up a facade at all times. The people in the middle felt Arshad’s points were valid, but his choice of words, especially calling Prabhas’ character in Kalki a joker, was a poor decision.

While contrasting opinions from netizens is par for the course, what was really surprising in this case was the intervention of important members of the Telugu film fraternity, who took offence at Arshad’s words.

In a strongly worded statement, RX 100 director Ajay Bhupathi said, “Prabhas is the man who has given everything & will do anything to take Indian Cinema to the world audience, a Pride of our nation. We can see the jealousy on the film, and him in your eyes just because you’ve faded out & no one gives an eye to you. There’s a limit & a way to express our opinion… Seems like you’re the one that you’ve said about him.” Actor Sudheer Babu, on the other hand, wasn’t this scathing, but sent out a strong message of his own, and said, “It’s okay to criticize constructively but it’s never okay to bad-mouth. Never expected the absence of professionalism from Arshad Warsi. Prabhas’s stature is too big for comments coming from small minds.”
