Actress, who is 7 years younger to Ram Charan, was offered his mother’s role in this film: ‘I was shocked’

Explaining her reason behind turning down the “huge” offer, the actress shared, “I don’t know how it would have turned out if I had accepted, but right now, I don’t feel the need to play Ram Charan’s mother. If the need arises later, I will think about it.”

She took the example of actress Honey Rose, 33, playing both mother and wife to actor Balakrishna in the film Veera Simha Reddy. The 65-year-old actor plays dual role in the film, with his second role having Shruti Haasan as his romantic interest.

She shared, “She (Honey) has done such a role and I am also receiving similar offers. I don’t know how it will look if I play a mother character, but I decided at that situation that it is not the right time to play the mother role of Ram Charan.”

When Bollywood actors shared similar problems

In Bollywood, actors Sheeba Chaddha and Shefali Shah have often complained about receiving such roles and have stated they want to move beyond the stereotype.

Shefali Shah, who won accolades with her Netflix series, Delhi Crime had once played mother to Akshay Kumar in the 2005 film Waqt. Shefali was 32 and Akshay was 37.

Similarly Sheeba Chaddha played mother to Shah Rukh Khan in Zero. Sheeba is his junior from college. Sheeba was 45 and Shah Rukh Khan was 53 at the time.

Previously, talking to News18, Sheeba Chaddha said, “I am phenomenally happy with the kind of sets I go to, the kind of people I work with—honestly, such a blessing, but I would love to have more exciting writing offered to me where the role is not just of a mother but a lot more.”

Similarly, Shefali Shah in a conversation with Indian Express stated that she will never play Akshay Kumar’s mother on screen now. In another interview, she stated she won’t play mothers to 35, 30, 40 year old actors.

What do we know about Peddi?

Peddi is an upcoming sports action drama film, starring actors Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles. The film will also star actors Shiva Rajkumar, Divyendu Sharma, and Jagapathi Babu. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, AR Rahman will compose the film’s music. It is unclear as to who will play Ram Charan’s mother in the film. The film will release in 2026.
