Exclusive | Umar Riaz on brother Asim Riaz’s break up with Himanshi Khurana: ‘Don’t give it importance like it was a divorce’
Bigg Boss 13 contestants Asim Riaz and Himanshi Khurana ended their 4-year-long relationship in December 2023, now commenting on the same, Asim's brother Umar Riaz said, 'Maybe it was not meant to be.'

In December, ex-Bigg Boss contestant and Punjabi actor Himanshi Khurana announced her break-up with Asim Riaz. The two ended their four-year-long relationship citing religious differences. While both Himanshi and Asim have not spoken about this fallout since then, recently, Asim’s brother Umar Riaz commented on his brother’s breakup.
Umar, who will soon be seen hosting MTV’s reality show D2R – Mr & Miss India Runway Model, said that when two people part ways, it’s just not meant to be.

Talking about the break-up, Umar Riaz said, “There is always a reason for everything to happen in life, and we forget about God often. People keep coming into your life and they leave also. If you get married to them, it means that person was meant to be. If you break up, it was not meant to be. Things didn’t happen because of their reasons. It’s their personal life, so let that relationship be where it was. Don’t give it importance like it was a divorce.”
Umar also reacted to the religious difference reason the estranged couple gave. He said, “There are a lot many things. Love is not just love, you get attached to people, and get away from reality for a while. But both Asim and Himanshi represent different cultures from Kashmir and Punjab. When these two people meet, there are some aspects involved, and a few of them might not give a damn about those, but sometimes those aspects have to be considered. So when they thought about those aspects, they realized them being together anymore was difficult.”
Announcing their break up, Himanshi Khurana took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, “YES, We are not together anymore, All the time we have spent together has been great but our togetherness comes to an end Now. The journey of our relationship was great and we are moving forward in our lives. With due respect to our respective religions, we are sacrificing our love for our different religious beliefs. We have nothing against each other. We request you to respect our privacy. Himanshi.”

Asim Riaz tweeted, “Yes Indeed we both agreed to sacrifice our love for our respective religious beliefs. We both are 30+ and we have full right to take these mature decisions and we made it. We’ve decided to part ways amicably, embracing our individual journeys. Respect for Himanshi and our diverse path and yes indeed I told her to write the real reason for our separation. Request you to all to respect our privacy.”

For those who don’t know, Asim and Himanshi fell in love while they were participating in Bigg Boss 13. Himanshi also broke her 9-year-old relationship to be with Asim. The two even went on to feature in many music videos. Himanshi had received lot of criticism when she announced her break up with Asim.
