Star Plus recently launched the magnum opus drama Karn Sangini. The daily, which is the untold story of a love triangle between Arjun, Karna and princess Uruvi, stars Ashim Gulati, Tejasswi Prakash and Kinshuk Vaidya in the lead roles. Tejasswi, who is attempting the genre for the first time, shared that she is really excited about the show.

“Honestly, I want to do everything that is there to do in the industry. I have done a grey shaded character and even romanced a younger guy (laughs). I also think it’s the right time for me to explore and experiment. So I am really excited about this new start,” Tejasswi shared in an exclusive chat with

The 26-year-old said that she will never get stereotyped in the mythological/historical genre, “I don’t think I can ever be typecast. In my career span, I have done some really different roles. And I am so happy that the audience has accepted me in all of them. So they are used to seeing me attempt challenging roles. And rather than identifying me as the characters, the audience knows me as Tejasswi. That’s really a big achievement for me.”

Talking further about Karn Sangini, Tejasswi said, “We have been blessed with a great team. Also, it’s a beautiful story that completely revolves around me. I must add it’s always nice to do the title role. Not much has been said and written about Uruvi and so it’s intriguing. It has been inspired by the novel ‘Karna’s Wife-The Outcast’s Queen’. There is a lot more about her than just being a wife. It is a very special story and I am sure the audience will enjoy knowing about her. Since it is a contemporary take to the mythological tale, people will relate to it easily.”

Karn Sangini is also being produced by Shashi-Sumeet Mittal, producers of her last show. When we asked her if she was signed during Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya, Tejasswi said, “No, it came after that. After we collaborated on Pehredaar Piya Ki, they told me that they want to do the next show with me,” she replied with a smile.

While actors of her age opt for multiple reality shows, Tejasswi has stirred clear from it. When asked the reason about the same, she said, “As you would know, I have always been busy with my shows. Even if I want to do something I don’t have time. It is, of course, not a big no but I am committed to other things for now.”

Karn Sangini airs Monday-Friday at 7 pm on Star Plus.
