‘Aren’t you scared?’: Anupam Mittal asks owner of fetish brand on Shark Tank India 4; Namita Thapar says India’s not ready for this
Shark Tank India 4: Randhir Pratap Singh, the founder of a fetish brand, earned praise from the sharks for his bold brand, but no deal.

The latest episode of Shark Tank India Season 4 featured an intriguing pitch. Randhir Pratap Singh, the founder of Subculture, entered the Tank to present his fetish brand, seeking Rs 50 lakh for a 7 percent equity stake in his company. Introducing himself to the ‘sharks’, Randhir shared that he comes from an army background and has lived across India.
One thing that immediately caught Aman Gupta’s attention was Randhir’s foreign accent. Curious, Aman asked, “How many years have you lived in London?” Randhir clarified that he had never lived abroad. Still unconvinced, Aman followed up, “Then where did you get the accent from?” Randhir explained that he had picked it up over the years from his non-Indian partners. Aman, however, pressed further, “But your parents are Indians, right?”
As the Sharks moved on from his background, they began probing Randhir about his business. He revealed that Subculture’s products are crafted by a family in Jaipur with a long tradition of working with leather. While the Sharks appreciated his boldness in venturing into a niche industry and openly discussing it, Anupam Mittal asked, “Are you not scared that somebody will harm you someday?” To this, Randhir confidently replied that his army background commands respect, preventing people from messing with him.
Speaking about his family’s perspective on his business, Randhir admitted that while they don’t openly discuss it, they do follow him on Instagram. He said, “They know what I am doing, they follow me on social media. But they don’t talk about it.”
During the discussion, Randhir revealed that 60 percent of his customer base comes from the queer community. Namita Thapar commended him for his efforts and shared her own experience of being trolled after discussing LGBTQ+ issues on her health podcast. She said, “I run a health podcast and one episode I did on the LGBTQ community. I got trolled so much and bad comments I can’t tell you. That shows us that as a country, we are not ready yet.”
Namita was the first Shark to opt out, advising Randhir to grow his business organically and focus on educating people about his products. Other Sharks followed suit, offering similar guidance. Aman Gupta, before declaring himself out, suggested that Randhir find a co-founder to help expand the brand.
