A young entrepreneur pitched her AI brain-mapping tool on the latest episode of Shark Tank India. She told the panel of sharks – Anupam Mittal, Aman Gupta, Vineeta Singh, Namita Thapar and Ritesh Agarwal – that the tool can be used for neurodivergent children, and aid in early diagnosis of their conditions in order to help their cognitive growth. She said that often, cases like this go undiagnosed for longer than they have to because of outdated assessment techniques, which her AI model can solve.

With a headset, the child’s cognitive functions can be mapped onto software, which can provide feedback and recommend curriculums. The entrepreneur said that her tool isn’t for diagnosis, but purely to assess a child’s mind, following which diagnosis can be simplified. She said that she envisions her company, Nema AI, as a B2B business, through which she will provide these assessment tests to schools and parents looking for alternative techniques. Her ask was Rs 80 lakh for 5% equity, and she said that she had so far been operating on grants. The company is essentially pre-revenue, as determined by the sharks after learning that it’s making just around Rs 30,000 per month.

Anupam was the first to ask if his brain can be mapped as an example. “Aaj doodh ka doodh paani ka paani ho jayega (Everything will become clear today),” Aman joked, as Anupam made his way to a chair near the entrepreneur, and had a headset fitted on him. After participating in a quick assessment test, Anupam was told that he had excellent scores, and that the AI tool had determined that he is someone who visualises his thoughts. Anupam agreed with this assessment, but said that he cannot invest in the business because the entrepreneur doesn’t have a firm understanding of the tech market.

Aman also backed out for similar reasons, as did Ritesh. But all of them commended the founder for her passion and drive. Vineeta and Namita, on the other hand, were interested in making an offer. They joined hands to offer the founder Rs 40 lakh for 8% equity, and Rs 40 lakh in debt for 10% interest in three years. The entrepreneur accepted the deal.
