Adventure-based reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 8 saw popular television actor Shantanu Maheshwari taking home the trophy. Beating Hina Khan and Ravi Dubey in a challenging final task, the Kolkata boy was on Saturday night announced as the champion by host Rohit Shetty. The 26-year-old actor, who turned out to be the underdog in the show impressed Rohit with his performance in every episode. A never give up attitude, complemented well with his agile body and focused mind got Shantanu the well-deserved victory. Stating that he was really happy and excited to win the show, Shantanu in an exclusive conversation with indianexpress.com shared, “I never expected to win the show when I signed it. I didn’t even think I would reach the finale. All that I wanted to was to enjoy each day and each task to the fullest. A show like Khatron Ke Khiladi doesn’t come your way every day and I wanted to make the most of it.”
When asked to define his experience of Khatron Ke Khiladi, the young actor stated, “It was the most wonderful experience. From meeting such a talented crew to performing stunts, dancing on the roads of Spain and of course interacting with Rohit Shetty, it was a lifetime opportunity for me.” Shantanu, who debuted on TV with Dil Dostii Dance, is an acclaimed dancer. He represented India with his troupe in World of Dance and even managed to get home the trophy. Shantanu and his crew have also performed on America’s Got Talent and China’s popular chat show Day Day Up. He had also recently featured in a music video with Sunny Leone.
While a lot of contestants indulged in some crazy moments which they dutifully shared on their social media accounts, Shantanu remained away from the buzz. When asked if it was a strategy, he smiled to share, “I too had my share of fun. Only because I am not active on social media that people never realized that I was also having a ball. I might be missing in the pictures and videos, but I was equally a part of all the crazy stories and activities.”
Told to pick out his most fun and difficult task in the season, the actor said, “The most fun task was with my brother during the finale week, which sadly we couldn’t complete. Since I couldn’t go through the first step, it was fun as well as hilarious. As for the most difficult one, it has to be the chicken task and all the height stunts.”
Talking about the strongest contestants for him, Shantanu said, “When I got to know the list of celebs onboard, I really felt Rithvik (Dhanjaani) and Geeta (Phogat) were the strongest.” Mentioning that post his victory, fear will not be a factor for him, the actor concluded, “I am really looking forward to some challenging roles. I have been auditioning and I am sure, I will be back soon.”
Apart from Shantanu, Ravi, Hina, Rithvik and Geeta, Khatron Ke Khiladi 8 also had Nia Sharma, Manveer Gurjar, Lopamudra Raut, Karan Wahi, Monica Dogra, Shibani Dandekar, Shiny Doshi as contestants.
