Today as Shah Rukh Khan celebrates his 54th birthday, gear up to watch him back on the small screen with the second season of TED Talks India. The new season highlights a vibrant, fast-evolving new India.
The second installment will turn the spotlight on ordinary Indians doing extraordinary work. These visionaries and everyday heroes will spark new conversations, infuse movements with energy and inspire a billion imaginations to action.
On being part of the new season, Shah Rukh Khan in a statement said, “On the show, I witnessed so much passion – people with pathbreaking ideas are disrupting the shackles of the impossible and finding solutions. TED Talks India is a mirror of the new face of India. It is all about being future ready and future focused. I am in awe of the diverse spectrum of speakers this season. On one hand, we have a 13-year-old scientist creating amazing inventions; on the other is a woman from Bundelkhand empowering thousands of Indian girls. This kind of television content is time-defining. It is the need of the hour.”
Sanjay Gupta, Country Manager, Star & Disney India, said, “With TED Talks India Nayi Baat, our goal is to showcase, celebrate and support the unsung visionaries who are working towards making a positive impact on society. I believe that a nation is built on the ideas and values of its people. We hope that the ideas and work of our featured speakers inspire our youth to don the role of a social change agent.”
Launched in October 2017, it was for the first time that TED had collaborated with a network to churn out a series in Hindi. Ted Talks India saw SRK as the presenter, who hosted inspirational figures and got them to share their journey and life-changing stories. Last time, at the launch of the event, Shah Rukh had said that he wasn’t doing the show for money but because it was his heart’s calling.
TED Talks India follows the international format wherein a speaker has to address an audience of 100 people, speaking for around 18-minutes. Last season, the show saw the likes of Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Javed Akhtar and Vikas Khanna sharing anecdotes from their lives. There were also a number of real-life heroes who had left the audience inspired by their stories.
What’s new on this season of TED Talks
This year the show will focus more on young achievers. Promoting the ‘doers’ of our society, the show has been named TED Talks India Nayi Baat instead of last year’s TED Talks India Nayi Soch. Also, as a treat to fans, the makers have introduced an augmented reality fun activity. The audience can log on to http://tedtalksindianayibaat.com/ to find King Khan at their homes, through a special camera feature.
Format of TED Talks India Nayi Baat
Since the show follows the international TED format, it has a set pattern. Every episode four speakers will interact with the audience and Shah Rukh Khan about their journey and achievements.
