Matthew Perry A Hollywood Tragedy trailer: Fans still haven’t fully come to terms with the fact that they are living in a world where Chandler Bing, the embodiment of sarcasm wrapped in charm, is no longer there; but that is the reality. It has been over a year and a half since Matthew Perry passed away at the age of 54, following an apparent drowning at his Los Angeles home. Now, a new documentary is on the way, exploring the Friends star’s life, legacy and the unanswered questions surrounding his tragic death.
The newly released trailer for the documentary, titled Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy, offers a glimpse into what the documentary will cover, including his rise to fame, his struggles with addiction — which he openly detailed in his memoir “Friends, Lovers, and The Big Terrible Thing” — the discovery of ketamine in his system after his death and the case against five persons, including his personal assistant and two doctors, who allegedly conspired to provide him with the substance.
The 119-second trailer opens with an aerial nighttime view of Perry’s Los Angeles home before shifting to his early days when he first found fame with the television sitcom Friends. “His life was overtaken by addictions. Hollywood is full of enablers. They’d really prey on somebody vulnerable,” the promo video states. After reflecting on the impact he had on fans, the trailer turns to the unsettling questions surrounding his death, particularly the finding of the presence of ketamine in his system. Since those close to Perry were certain he had been sober for some time, the discovery raised many eyebrows and the documentary delves deep into these mysteries, seeking answers about what really happened to him.

“On October 28th, 2023, the news that actor Matthew Perry was found dead at home in Los Angeles shocked the world. In his memoir, ‘Friends, Lovers, and The Big Terrible Thing’, he had told his story of battling addiction, and when ketamine was found in his system, it was thought by many that he had died from an overdose. Nearly a year later, a bombshell announcement from prosecutors: five people, including Perry’s live-in personal assistant, two medical doctors, and an alleged Hollywood drug dealer known as ‘the Ketamine Queen’ were charged with conspiracy to illegally provide Perry with ketamine. The special explores the case as two of the defendants, who have pleaded not guilty, await trial,” the trailer description states. Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy is set to start streaming on Peacock from February 25 onwards.
