Kaun Banega Crorepati 9, the TV show that had the entire nation hooked for over two months, had its finale last night with special guests Vidya Balan and Yuvraj Singh. The Amitabh Bachchan show enjoyed a good run even in its ninth season and witnessed some good ratings during its run that started on August 28, 2017.
The finale was a two-part episode with some special guests. The first part had Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi playing the game of questions and answers and the second part had Bollywood actor Vidya Balan along with cricketing legend, Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj was playing the show to raise awareness and money for his cancer foundation, YouWeCan.
Yuvraj was diagnosed with cancer in 2011 but came out as a survivor. He established his foundation, YouWeCan, to raise awareness about the disease and also help the less fortunate who are fighting the disease. On KBC, Yuvraj shared that his diagnosis was a difficult time for him and his family. The cricketer said he stayed in denial for some time as he could not believe that he had cancer. “Being an athlete it was very difficult for me to accept. When you’re playing for 6-8 hours every day, you simply can’t believe you’ve cancer,” Yuvraj said.
Yuvraj further shared that he felt like the doctors were lying and he continued to play until his health and his game both started deteriorating. When the doctors told him that it would become increasingly difficult for him to survive in the current circumstances, he had to go for treatment. Yuvraj broke down while recounting his experience with cancer.

For his foundation, Yuvraj said that there is a lot of stigma attached to the disease. There are a lot of misconceptions about cancer and that is mainly because there isn’t much awareness.
Along with Vidya, he won Rs 25 lakhs from KBC for his foundation, YouWeCan.
Kaun Banega Crorepati was first telecast in 2000. This was the show’s ninth season.
