Friendships that bloom on reality shows barely last long once the series comes to an up. And especially the show is as controversial as Bigg Boss, where the entire fight is about the survival of the fittest. But here is one friendship which not just faced the test of time, but even life and death. We saw how actress Kamya Panjabi has been on the forefront demanding justice for her friend Pratyusha Banerjee who committed suicide in April.
Kamya and Pratyusha struck a chord inside the Bigg Boss house when they participated in its seventh season. Testing times on the show made them each other’s confidante. And the bond still exists even after the demise of Pratyusha. Kamya who is a part of the television show Shakti, recently got highly emotional while shooting a suicide scene, as it reminded her of her close friend.
Kamya plays the role of Preeto in the show. She said, “I am a strong woman. But shooting this scene, in which I commit suicide by hanging myself like my friend (Pratyusha) apparently did a few months ago, has been the most difficult one in my life. I was overwhelmed by a weird feeling of helplessness and had knots in my stomach.” While speaking to an entertainment portal, Kamya shared how it was a sheer coincidence that Shakti replaced Balika Vadhu, in which Pratyusha played the main lead — Anandi — for several years.
Both Kamya and Pratyusha celebrated their birthdays together, as they fell two days apart. But this year, things were different. Kamya said she had no motivation to cut a cake. “She would insist on celebrating our birthdays together. I just couldn’t muster the courage to cut the cake on my birthday this year. My co-actors and the unit made me cut one finally. She used to stay over at my place and I still have her clothes and bag at my home.”
Pratyusha was found hanging from the ceiling fan at her residence on April 1. Her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh was charged with abetting her suicide. Rahul is still facing trial for the case.
