Shantanu: ‘bindass NAACH’ is not a show. It’s a dream that Nimit, Macee and I saw when we were in college and it’s now turning into a reality. Our dream was to perform at the ‘World of Dance’ in LA and represent our country there, and that’s exactly what we would be doing in this journey of ours. At the concept level, yes, it’s quite a unique concept it’s something that has never been done before or seen before on Indian Television. It’s our journey that is being traced and the audiences will travel with us on this journey.

Q: Do you think the scenario of dance shows and dance based reality shows has changed over the years? There has been an emergence of new reality shows and newer talents are coming to the fore. Has that really helped real talent to shine?

Shantanu: Yes it surely has, and it’s a good thing because these shows are changing people’s perceptions about dance and dance as a profession. These shows do give people an opportunity to showcase their talent and more so give them an experience of a lifetime.

Q: How different is Shantanu from Swayam?

Shantanu: Swayam was a fictional character on the show, while on ‘bindass NAACH’, it’s the real me. How I am, my emotions and reactions are all real; it’s being myself. The show is going to revolve around different aspects of my crew and me and our dream, the experiences, the lows and highs of our life together.

Q: Who’s the one actor from Bollywood or Hollywood who you idolise in terms of dancing?

Shantanu: Prabhudheva and Govinda, I think they are phenomenal dancers and I wish someday I get to share the stage with them. Internationally, Michael Jackson is the king of dance and who doesn’t idolize him?

Q: You have a great stage presence for all we know. And you’re a versatile dancer. So did you always want to be a dancer? And how do you see yourself in the coming years?

Macedon: Thank you for the compliment, it’s fantastic to hear good and bad feedback equally, I have been dancing for some time now, I always wanted to be in this field. Honestly, I haven’t thought about my future plans as of now, right now our focus is the ‘World of Dance’ after that whatever happens will happen for good.

Q: You come from a very humble background. Your story is a perfect example of what one can do with sheer dedication and perseverance. What is that one thing that inspires you and encourages you to do better?

Nimit: Thank you, and yes, my parents are deaf and mute, but throughout they have supported me in whatever way they can. It’s because of them, that I am here today and cannot be more blessed. And yes, dance is that one thing that keeps me inspired to do better and better every single time, it’s my passion and there’s nothing else I know apart from dancing. It feels amazing when they feel proud and happy seeing my work.

Q: Your message to the youth, particularly for those who have a dream, but are hesitant to go for it.

Shantanu: Being afraid is the last thing you should be while you visualize your dream. If you have a dream and you’re confident and passionate about it, just go for it.

Nimit: We had a dream and we gave our self no choice other than making it happen. So I believe if you can dream about it, you can also achieve it in reality.

Macedon: Anybody Can Dream. Just gather all the courage, put in all your dedication and you will see yourself creating magic.

Indian Express wishes the trio – Shantanu Maheshwari, Macedon Dmello and Nimit Kotian – and the team of this unsual show all the good luck.
