Netflix recently premiered its latest original reality show Desi Bling, offering viewers a glimpse into the extravagant lives of some of Dubai’s wealthiest desis, with Karan Kundrra and Tejasswi Prakash attempting to navigate that ultra-luxurious world. The show highlights the lavish lifestyle of businessman Satish Sanpal and his wife Tabinda Sanpal, popularly referred to as Binda. From reportedly owning over 40 kgs of gold to buying a Rolls-Royce for a toddler, their world left Karan and Tejasswi stunned.
‘Bling people in India call Beyonce to perform at weddings’
Speaking to Pinkvilla, the couple admitted they were fascinated by the experience. “We were amused,” they said together. Tejasswi elaborated, “We have heard of a lot of crazy things in India as well. We have a lot of bling people here too. We have seen global stars like Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce perform at weddings in India. I don’t think that happens in their own countries. That’s the power of money. We kind of saw that here too.”
Beyonce had visited India in 2018 to perform at the grand wedding celebrations of Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal in Udaipur. Her performance at the pre-wedding festivities became one of the biggest highlights of the lavish ceremony. Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez first came to India in 2015 to perform at the wedding of businessman Sanjay Hinduja and designer Anu Mahtani. She later returned to the country in 2025 to perform at the wedding celebrations of Netra Mantena and Vamsi Gadiraju.
Hinting at one of Binda’s remarks on the show, Tejasswi added, “When people say, ‘We don’t go to Bollywood, we call Bollywood to our house,’ you really understand the kind of influence money brings.”

Cast of Desi Bling is ‘hardworking and self-made’
Karan also reflected on the experience, saying, “We are actors and we do events. We have always seen life from the stage — someone hosting, someone performing. But we never crossed that stage to see how the people who invite us actually live. There is unimaginable wealth there, and all of them are desi people. They are hardworking and self-made, but when you have that much money, your life becomes completely different.”
When asked whether money plays a big role in their own lives, Tejasswi replied with a laugh, “Money matters to us, but not as much as it matters to Binda.” Asked if the people featured on the show were genuinely happy, Tejasswi quickly responded, “They are 100 percent happy.” However, Karan disagreed, saying, “Eventually, people do feel low and lonely. We are human beings, and life is not just about money.”
Binda bought five luxury bags ‘for an ego trip’
Recalling one of the show’s lighter moments, Tejasswi shared, “Binda once said that she massages Satish’s feet every morning. Then she told us about a time when she went to a Chanel showroom and felt they didn’t show her the best bags. So, just for an ego trip, she bought five Chanel bags to prove what she could afford. After hearing that, I joked and told Karan, ‘I will massage your feet too if you buy me five Chanel bags, a Birkin, and 40 kgs of gold.’”
The couple also confirmed that the extravagant claims made on the show were genuine. “Everything they said on the show is real. They really do have 40 kgs of gold. They haven’t lied about anything. They also don’t have tax issues there,” they said.
