On Tuesday, Siddharth Dey exited Bigg Boss 13 in a mid-week eviction. The Salman Khan hosted series will see more eliminations in the coming days before the mini-finale on November 2.
Dey has been working in the entertainment industry for a while as a writer of reality shows and live events for many Bollywood celebrities. Post his eviction, Siddharth sat down for an exclusive conversation with indianexpress.com about his Bigg Boss journey and clarified his stand on the controversies streamed against him.
Talking about his Bigg Boss 13 journey and eviction, Siddharth Dey said, “It was a mixed bag of emotions. I had my share of ups and downs. But everyone should experience this adventure at least once. As for my eviction, I was praying to every God that I should come out this time. You wouldn’t believe I jumped on the car top when I stepped outside the house. I came home and danced for hours. I was so overjoyed.”

The 35-year-old received a lot of flak for using derogatory words against female contestants Arti Singh and Shehnaaz Gill. Clarifying his stand, he shared, “I did not abuse a single time. It’s just that I used a few words in jest that went against me. It’s wrong to judge me only because of a couple of incidents. Arti is Krushna Abhishek, a very good friend’s sister, so she was like family to me. In that task, they used bleach and chilli powder on me for hours that gave me a deep injury. So I thought I will use fun tactics to keep her away. I know I went a little overboard but these things happen in comedy. As for Shehnaaz, she was trying to pester me and came so close to me at the moment, I said all those words, which I know I shouldn’t have. I did apologise to both of them.”
As readers would know, Siddharth Dey has worked with Salman Khan for years, and even written for his multiple live shows including the Dabangg Tour. This weekend, the host showed his wrath on Dey over his statements against Shehnaaz Gill. Ask him about Salman reprimanding him, and the writer said, “Salman Khan has always treated me like a kid. I have known him for long and I know he loves me a lot. Whatever he said, he did it only because he wanted me to improve my game. It was out of love. He didn’t want me to come across the way I was being projected. I took his words sportingly knowing it was for my betterment.”
When asked if he regrets doing the show, Dey said, “I do not regret being on Bigg Boss 13. Yes, I could have used better words for the two women. But I know people will understand after they know my side. As for learnings, I never knew that I could bear so much and do so well in tasks. I found my inner strength in the show.”
The only love story that brewed on Bigg Boss 13 seemed to be of Siddharth and Shefali Bagga’s. When asked if that was a survival strategy, he said, “It was a very organic connection that we formed on the stage, even before entering the house. We realised we were kind of made for each other in that mad show. Although we are very different individuals we really bonded well and built a bridge to know each other. She once told me that her eyes keep searching for me in the house and I saw that in her behaviour. It was the most beautiful relationship in the house. Even though there was so much liking, we never indulged in anything stupid. We did not giggle around, got in the pool or under the blanket. We knew our families were watching and I am proud I could find such a strong connection.”
