It’s not even a month since Bigg Boss 11 launched and the audience has already found their favourites. While celebrities Hina Khan, Hiten Tejwani, Shilpa Shinde and Vikas Gupta are looked upon as strong contenders, commoners Arshi Khan and Sapna Chaudhary have also become the talk of the town. As much as people detest the content of this controversial reality show, they just can’t seem to ignore it. Singing maestro Alka Yagnik, who doesn’t really have much time to watch television, often finds herself hooked to Bigg Boss 11, catching up on all the latest episodes.
“It is a very interesting show and really entertaining. I try to take out time to watch the episodes. The format of Bigg Boss gets the true human nature out. One might pretend for a while but then in the long run, you have to show your true side,” said Alka in an exclusive chat with indianexpress.com.
Interestingly, Alka has a deep connection with Hina, having playbacked for her debut television show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. “Since I knew Hina, and have been part of her first show, I decided to watch the Bigg Boss only for her. I really wanted to see how she is performing and was really disappointed to see her behaviour. She has a very entitled attitude and I really didn’t enjoy it. May be it’s the stressful scenarios and I am waiting to witness more from her,” said the multi linguist singer.
Talking about who she likes in the show, Alka quipped, “I really enjoy watching Hiten and Vikas. While Hiten is a mature individual who doesn’t get into unnecessary fights and controversy, Vikas has shown great strength. He has been attacked on personal grounds but he fought it really bravely. He is a smart player and can go really long in the show. He hasn’t really teamed up and has been playing an individual game, which is quite commendable.”
Apart from crooning the title track of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai nine years back, Alka had recently made a guest appearance on the show at Naksh and Keerti’s sangeet ceremony. The singer has had a successful career spanning over three decades. Some of her best works include “Chamma Chamma”, “Taal Se Taal”, “Tip Tip Barsa Pani”, “Aye Mere Humsafar”, “Choli Ki Peeche”, “Agar Tum Saath Ho” among more. She has also judged numerous singing reality shows on TV.
