‘Balika Vadhu’ brought a social menace of society — child marriage — into the limelight, and now with an 11-year-old leap, the show makers are set to revisit the original theme of the show to highlight the plight of young brides forced into a marriage at an early age.

With the show’s narrative taking a leap in March, the focus will be on protagonist Anandi’s daughter Nimboli, who has been kidnapped and finds herself bound by the chains that plagued Anandi’s own childhood — child marriage.

An 11-year-old Baroda resident, Gracy Goswami has been roped in to portray the role of young Nimboli. Gracy is currently in the process of shifting base to Mumbai along with her family, who are tutoring her about child marriage.

However, Anandi, who has turned into an activist fighting for the rights of women after the leap, is unaware of what her daughter is going through.

‘Balika Vadhu’ was one of the flagship shows of Colors, and it has had a successful run of seven years.
