Last year’s blockbuster Dangal gave us a glimpse of the lives of Phogat sisters, Geeta and Babita, and their journey of becoming national heroes. Indian wrestling’s most famous sisters are true inspirations. Recently, Geeta was seen fighting her fears in adventure reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi. Now walking on her sister’s path, Babita has also signed a show. The 27-year old wrestler will be seen in &TV’s popular daily Badho Bahu, where she will be seen playing herself.
Badho Bahu, starring Rytasha Rathore and Prince Narula, depicts the story of an overweight girl and her struggle to find her identity in the society and a place in her husband’s heart. Though the world stands against her, Badho’s father-in-law, played by Pankaj Dheer, supports and encourages her to take up wrestling. He believes in her capabilities and helps her find a way of fulfilling her dreams. Recently in the show, we saw Badho training for her first official wrestling match. And lo behold, it would be against none other than Babita herself.
Talking about the international champion being part of her show, producer Dipti Kalwani shared, “I am over the moon and I can’t wait to see Babita and Badho in the same akhada. It’s a dream come true when your inspiration stands in flesh and blood with your character. Babita inspired me to write the show and it’s the proudest moment for me. I will cherish it all my life. I would really like to thank Babita and the &TV team for making my dream a reality.”
When we asked whether Badho will manage to beat Babita, the young producer smiled to say, “It’s impossible for a newcomer to beat a champion but trust me, we have some really exciting time ahead.”
Interestingly, the makers wanted to feature both Geeta and Babita, however, Geeta was unavailable owing to prior commitments.
