It was a sight to behold as actor Suyyash Rai looked at his would-be bride, Kishwer Merchantt, dressed in a sharara, and ended up giving her the tightest hug in front of their friends and media at their sangeet. Upon reaching the venue of their sangeet ceremony, Suyyash — wearing a sherwani with a pagdi and looking every inch a Sikh groom — called out for Kishwer.
The actor, who had reached the party before her groom, came out to pose with him for the pictures but they could barely speak as they saw each other and exchanged big smiles. As he complimented her saying, “You look so pretty,” Kishwer pulled his cheeks and said, “And you look so handsome.”

Not caring about the cameras, the two embraced each other. Sharing his thoughts, Suyyash told indianexpress.com, “It is one of the most beautiful feelings one can feel, to see other as bride and groom. It can’t get better than this, She is looking damn pretty. We had planned that she would dress up as a Muslim bride and I will come dressed as a Punjabi groom and I think we are killing it.”
While Kishwer was all happy to see her man decked up, she jokingly complained that he took more time to get ready than her. “We both left our place the same time but I reached the venue half an hour before him. Generally, it is the bride who takes more time but in our case, it is always the opposite.”

Suyyash blamed the pagdi for being late, but the actor-singer said it was his wish to dress like a Sikh at his wedding. “Whatever I have got in life, it is because of Chandigarh. Punjab is in me. So, I wanted to dress up like a Sikh for the sangeet.”
In Kishwer’s absence, Suyyash shared with the media that he has planned a surprise for her at the reception, which will be on Friday night. He said, “There is a performance by both of us at the reception and I have also planned a surprise for Kishwer about which no one else knows, not even my family.”
The couple might have chosen a court wedding but their sangeet was a grand, star-studded affair, with the who’s who of the television industry in attendance.
