‘Tell them Vikram’s son has come’: ‘Chiyaan’ recalls Dhruv would want attention as a child, despite being told ‘never’ to discuss his family

He continued, “My son is the opposite. Although he’s very quiet, when he was young, he went to the theatre and saw people waiting, and he said, ‘Tell them Vikram’s son has come’. Fans had come to see me, but obviously they’re very intrigued by the children, right? He’d take it on and be like, ‘They’ve come to see me’. But, we would tell him, ‘No, you don’t do that, you don’t tell people who you are’… All along, we’ve just been like, ‘Just be normal, don’t tell anyone anything’.”

Dhruv made his acting debut with the Tamil remake of Arjun Reddy, titled Adithya Varma. He starred alongside his father in the film Mahaan. In the same interview, Vikram said that Dhruv has started to recognise that he stands out in crowds. He said that he advised his son to prepare for a life of loneliness, because actors of a certain level of popularity always struggle to make friends, and must learn to get accustomed to being made a ‘spectacle’ in public. Vikram was most recently seen in the film Thangalaan, which opened to mixed reviews and moderate box office success.
