Despite the downslide of Kanguva in 2024, Suriya would be looking for a change of fortunes with Retro, and RJ Balaji’s next, tentatively titled Suriya 45. The title teaser managed to raise the already sky-high expectations for the combination of Suriya and Karthik.

Here’s the teaser:

The teaser begins with an intense Suriya sitting on the steps of a temple pond looking deep into the eyes of his lover, played by Pooja Hegde. As she looks on at him, and ties a thread around his wrist, Suriya’s character promises her that he would leave behind his rage-filled past, stop working with his father, and become the man she would always love. He receives a smile and a kiss in return for his promise to find a new purpose to his life. But then… the teaser shifts gears, courtesy some interesting intercuts to bouts of violence, and a rollicking score by Santhosh Narayanan, and we are shown what is in store in this film that was launched with the tagline, “Love, Laughter, War.”
