Sasikumar’s Kodiveeran gets a release date, to clash with Vijay’s Mersal?

The team of Director-actor Sasikumar’s Kodiveeran has confirmed that the film would hit the big screens this Diwali. With Thalapathy Vijay- Atlee’s magnum opus is also likely to release during the festive season, this could possibly mean for a clash between the movies. Produced by Sasikumar himself, the film is directed by Komban fame Muthiah. Incidentally he made a debut with Sasikumar’s Kutti Puli. The film features Sasikumar, Vidharth,Mahima Nambiar, Sanusha, Poorna and Bala Saravanan. It also has seasoned actor Pasupathy playing the villain. While Sasikumar had four releases in 2016, Kodiveeran would be the actor-director’s first release this year. An action-packed rural entertainer, Kodiveeran’s teaser was also launched recently.

On the other hand, Mersal, one of Kollywood’s much awaited releases is also likely to hit the screens during Diwali. Touted as Vijay’s biggest release yet, the extravagant project has been made with a massive budget and a stellar star cast. Helmed by Atlee, Mersal has Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Aggarwal, Nithya Menen, SJ Suryah amid others.

The 100th film to be produced by Sri Thenandal Films, Mersal has music by the ‘Mozart of Madras’ AR Rahman. Vijay’s 61st film (second with Atlee after Theri), the movie will also allegedly see Vijay in three roles, one of which is a magician. Mersal’s teaser became the world’s most liked teaser within days of its official launch. The record was earlier held by Ajith’s Vivegam which was the first Tamil film to achieve the feat.
