Rajinikanth film Vettaiyan gets U/A certificate, makers announce trailer release date
With the trailer set to be out on October 2, Vettaiyan, which will be released on October 10, is certified U/A.

Actor Rajinikanth was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai during the late hours of Monday for a planned procedure. According to the health update shared this morning, the procedure was successfully completed, and Rajinikanth will soon be shifted to the ward. Soon after this information became public, the makers of his next movie Vettaiyan started sharing updates about the film, which is set to release on October 10.

Lyca Productions, who have previously backed Rajinikanth films like Darbar, Lal Salaam and 2.0, announced that Vettaiyan has been certified U/A. Interestingly, most of the recent Rajinikanth films, which have been heavy on violence and bloodshed, has been certified U/A, and considering the central premise of TJ Gnanavel’s Vettaiyan involves cops and encounter killings, the certification does seem apt.
The makers also announced that the trailer of the film would be out on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi. This strategy of releasing the trailer just a week or so ahead of the release is interesting as it ensure that the excitement for the movie peaks just at the right moment. We saw it happen successfully for Rajinikanth’s previous film, Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
In many ways, Vettaiyan is a special film as it marks the Tamil debut of legendary superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who is working with Rajinikanth for the first time in over three decades. They were last seen together in the successful Hindi film Hum.
Vettaiyan, which stars a glittering ensemble, also sars Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan and Ritika Singh.
With music by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography by SR Kathir, Vettaiyan is set to release on the festive occasion of Dussehra, and is expected to have a hindrance-free run till Diwali with no biggies being planned for a release in the interim. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is also working on Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming film Coolie.
