The main cast and crew of 2.0, including director Shankar, superstar Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, Oscar-winner AR Rahman, producer Subaskaran held a press conference in Dubai, where they landed a few hours ago to release the most-awaited music album.

As usual, Rajinikanth was a show stealer of the event. The Thalaivar was asked the reason behind his simplicity and he replied to it with his trademark modesty. “Nobody pays me to act in my real life, so I’m simple,” he said to loud cheers from the members present at the press meet.

The actor also said he was very thankful for Subaskaran and Shankar for casting him in 2.0, which he described as India’s most prestigious project yet. He also promised that not just in India, the film will be appreciated in other parts of the world too.

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan recently revealed that he was the first choice of the filmmakers to play the lead role. Even Rajinikanth called him to convince him to sign the project. However, Aamir said he took a pass on the film as he could not see him playing a role, which was played by Rajinikanth in 2010 blockbuster Enthiran.

Talking about Akshay Kumar’s role in the film, Shankar said even though he plays the main antagonist, his character has several shades in the mega-budget sci-fil film. He also added that 2.0 is the continuation of Enthiran but it is a completely new story.

Composer AR Rahman also revealed that the film has three songs, of which two songs will be released at the grand event on Friday. The audio release function will be held at Dubai’s Burj Park. Rahman will also be giving the live performance of his compositions from 2.0 along with 125 symphony artists.
