Bharathiraja’s 1981 suspense thriller Tik Tik Tik, starring Kamal Haasan, turned out to be an instant hit. Looking back, the film comes across as a pulpy mix-mash of Hollywood thrillers of that era. An important element that contributed to the success of Tik Tik Tik was its glamour as the film was about the serial killings of models. The movie is still remembered for its bold bikini scenes, which featured yesteryear stars Radha, Maadhavi, and Swapna.
After 42 years, Radha took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes picture from the sets of Tik Tik Tik and called it one of her fond memories. In the post, Radha shared how it was a struggle to have a bikini body back then. She also praised her co-star in the film, Maadhavi, for her effortless look and the right posture for the bikini picture.
It was the second film in Radha’s career after her acclaimed performance in her debut movie, Alaigal Oivathilai. In Tik Tik Tik, Radha played the role of one of the victims, who gets killed by a modelling agency that smuggles diamonds using the models who work for them.
Radha retired from acting in the 90s, and was part of many reality shows. Her daughters–Karthika and Thulasi–also made their foray into acting. While Karthika acted in films like Ko and Annakodi, Thulasi made her debut with Mani Ratnam’s Kadal. She was later seen in Jiiva’s Yaan.
