Karthi, who is riding high on the success of Kaithi, will share screen space with his sister-in-law Jyotika, for the first time, in a film, directed by Jeethu Joseph of Drishyam fame. Grapevine has it that the movie is titled Thambi (brother). However, we await an official confirmation.
According to sources, the shooting of this family thriller has been wrapped up. “We shot extensively in Ooty and Goa. It will be an interesting film to watch. Karthi and Jyotika play siblings in the film,” said a source close to the unit.
Karthi, in a recent interaction, had revealed, “It’s a performance-oriented film with a lot of humour,” adding his character in the film is similar to Seenu from Oopiri aka Thozha. The film was scripted by Jeethu Joseph along with Rensil D’Silva and Manikandan.
Bankrolled by Viacom 18 and Parallel Minds Productions, Thambi is scheduled to release next month.
Also starring Sathyaraj, Sowcar Janaki and Ashwanth of Super Deluxe fame among others, the film has music by Govind Vasantha of 96 fame and cinematography by RD Rajashekar.
Jeethu Joseph had made his directorial debut in Tamil with Papanasam, the official remake of Drishyam.
Karthi, on the other hand, has Mani Ratnam’s adaptation of Ponniyin Selvan and Sultan in his kitty.
