The trailer of Jyotika starrer Kaatrin Mozhi was released on Thursday. The name of the upcoming Tamil movie is inspired by the title track of Mozhi (2007), which was director Radha Mohan’s maiden collaboration with Jyotika.
Kaatrin Mozhi, which roughly translates to ‘the language of the air’, is the official remake of Bollywood comedy drama Tumhari Sulu. Jyotika steps into the shoes of Vidya Balan for the Tamil remake. As the trailer suggests, the film follows the struggles of a middle-aged housewife, who aspires to break free from all the restrictions of society and live her life on her own terms.
Jyotika as Vijayalakshmi catches a break when she gets hired by a popular radio channel. But she is tasked with the responsibility of hosting an unconventional late-night show that talks about adult problems. Lakshmi Manchu has played a key role in the film which marks her debut in the Tamil film industry. Vidharth has played the role of Vijayalakshmi’s husband. Simbu will also make a cameo appearance as a guest on Vijayalakshmi’s show.
Kaatrin Mozhi also stars MS Bhaskar, Manobala, Uma Padmanabhan and Mohan Raman among others.
Jyothika was last seen in gangster drama Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, which was her maiden film with director Mani Ratnam.
