The teaser of Idhu Vedhalam Sollum Kadhai, which is co-produced by Bollywood actor Abhay Deol has dropped. The film, which also marks Abhay’s debut in Tamil cinema, is directed by debutant filmmaker Rathindran R Prasad.
The teaser has lead actor Ashwin Kakumanu talking about a secret organisation called ‘Illuminati’ and his obsession to unravel the secrets of it, which he says has been functioning for over 500 years. And what follows next is a series of action sequences that predominantly take place in and around the highways. It promises an immersive storytelling and full of surprises with some brilliant performances. Joker fame Guru Somasundaram plays a role of an eccentric old wanderer that seems to be key to the narration.
Aishwarya Rajesh, who is currently at the peak of her career, plays the female lead. Idhu Vedhalam Sollum Kadhai (This is a story narrated by a phantom) is likely to provide a big break for Ashwin, who so far has mainly played supporting roles in his previous films. We also get to see a glimpse of Abhay’s character that looks raw and savage. Is he the phantom that the title refers to?
UK-based stunt choreographer Greg Burridge has played the antagonist and is also composing action scenes in the film. Italian cinematographer Roberto Zazzara is cranking the camera and up-and-coming music composer Ghibran is scoring the tunes for the project.
According to reports, the film follows the life of a video game designer, played by Ashwin, who becomes rich overnight. It is said to be a different take on Vedalam-Vikramaditya tale. Interestingly, Vikram Vedha that released earlier this year was also inspired by the mythological characters of Vikram and Betaal, which were made famous through folklore.
