Dhruv Vikram is currently busy promoting his upcoming film Bison, directed by Mari Selvaraj. At the film’s pre-release event, the actor spoke about his co-stars, reflected on his father Vikram’s towering legacy, and expressed deep admiration for director Mari Selvaraj, among other things.
During his speech, Dhruv thanked his co-stars Anupama Parameswaran and Rajisha Vijayan. He said, “Rajisha has become like my sister through this film. You are an extremely good actress, Anupama. Even after acting across three languages, you are putting so much effort into cinema. I wish you get to work with many good directors in the future.”
Talking about working with Pashupathi, Dhruv said, “Pashupati sir had acted as a villain to my dad in Dhool. So even from a young age, I used to be scared of him. Then he acted with my father as an elder brother in the movie Maja. Now, after you played my father in Bison, I feel this as a spiritual journey connection, sir. You are a legend, and I love your performance style. I think you will be the emotional pillar of this film.”

Dhruv Vikram was also candid about his father’s towering legacy and the pressure that comes with it. “Every time I am shooting a tough sequence, ‘Chiyaan’ will be on my mind. When he is doing so much for cinema, can’t I try a little harder? is the question that comes to me.” The actor further shared why he thinks he can never be Chiyaan Vikram. “I don’t know if I can be like my dad. I don’t know what good deed I have done to be Chiyaan Vikram’s son, but I am ready to work hard and do anything to deserve that legacy. So thank you, Chiyaan, for everything.”
Lastly, the Bison actor heaped praise on his ‘guru’ Mari Selvaraj. Dhruv said, “No matter how much I thank my guru, Mari Selvaraj sir, it won’t be enough. Some people were saying that I wasted 2-3 years on his films, but for Mari sir, I would wait 10 years to make a film with him. This film would be even better if Mari sir had acted in it. Each time as an actor, if you can recapture 10% of what he is showing us on set, it would be correct.” The actor also shared how he used to wait for Mari’s approval on set with bated breath. “I used to yearn to hear the words ‘take ok’ and ‘super da’ from him on set. I used to feel like I had done something in life if he said ‘take ok’ itself. Thank you, Mari sir, for the effort you put into this film and thinking of me to play the lead role.”

Bison will hit screens on October 17, alongside Pradeep Ranganthan’s Dude and Harish Kalyan-starrer Diesel.
