Popular Telugu producer Allu Aravind, father of Allu Arjun claimed that stars are not the only reason for the high budget of films. Citing Kannada star Yash as an example, the producer said that a big star is not just enough to make a blockbuster film. The producer added that the film has to be made on a grand scale for the star to elevate it.
Allu Aravind was asked why his famed production house Geetha Arts has stopped making big-budget films and is only focusing on small films. The veteran produced cited cost as the reason. He was further probed why stars demand more money making the budget of films skyrocket. Allu Arjun and the other stars in Allu Aravind’s family were cited as examples of actors receiving high fees.
In reply, Allu Aravind denied that stars are the only reason for the high cost of films. “The lead actor of a movie gets only 20 to 25 per cent of the film’s budget as remuneration. So, it is not true that the budget for the film will increase because of his fees alone. On top of actors’ fees, a lot of money is spent to make the movie a big venture.”
He cited Kannada superstar Yash as an example. “Who was Yash before KGF? How big a hero was he? Why did the film make noise? He was able to elevate the film only because of its making and grandeur. The rich scale made it a success. It is just one example.”
Allu Aravind’s statement is in contrast to the long-standing criticism against stars across film industries. His statement didn’t go down well with fans of Yash too. Slamming his statement, a Yash fan on X wrote, “Come out of this elite mindset and accept reality!” Many such fans on social media have said that Yash was a popular star even before KGF.
