Since Babumoshai Bandookbaaz is set in Bengal and will have a Bengali feel, the producers have included several A list Bengali actors in their cast, including veteran actor Biswajeet, Rupa Ganguly and Tota Roy Chowdhury. While Biswajeet has already started shooting for the Hindi film, Ganguly and Chowdhury will join in the next schedule. “All I can say as of now is that Biswajeet has a very interesting role,” said Kiran Shroff who is co-producing the action thriller with Ashmit Kunder. The duo had earlier produced 88 Antop Hill. Back after wrapping up the first schedule of the film in Bolpur in Bengal, Shroff talks about the harrowing experience she had there.
“There were a lot of issues. We shot for around 12 days without any major issues. The problem began when we were scheduled to leave Bolpur for Burdwan. There’s an active mafia in Bolpur who forced us to hire almost 100 locals, even though they were not required. They would hardly work and come only during meals. We had paid Rs. 5000 for shooting in one location in Bolpur, but the mafia made us shell out Rs. 80000!,” said the producer who is still reeling from the shock. After such a harrowing experience, Shroff and Kunder are now undecided about where they will shoot the next schedule of the film as they have no plans of going back to Bengal. “It could be Orissa but nothing has been finalised yet.” Co-written and directed by Kushan Nandy, the film has Chitrangada Singh playing a cobbler and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, a contract killer. Tahir Raj Bhasin also has a prominent role in the film.
