After singing the romantic Meherbaani for The Shaukeens, newbie Jubin Nautiyal will now now sing an unplugged version of the same song. “The number composed by Arko will feature him too. I will be recording this for Zee Music, the official partner for The Shaukeens. I’m going to unplug the song, make it a little softer and give it a more acoustic feel,” said Nautiyal.
Considering the song Meherbaani also has an Electronic dance music version sung by Arko Pravo Mukherjee, this will be the song’s third version. “It’s a win-win for everyone, it promotes Zee’s music, the film and people love to hear versions of a hit track. It gives me an opportunity to showcase myself and also lets people know what I do,” explained Nautiyal.
When asked about his foray into Bollywood, Nautiyal mentions how he dubbed the song six-seven months back for Mukheerjee, whom he knew before his debut.“When I dubbed the song, I wasn’t sure where it would be heading. Later Arko pitched it and it got selected for The Shaukeens. The makers were convinced that I’d be singing the song for the film,” says Nautiyal.
The video will be shot a few days later. “I’ve met the directors and we’re still in the process of deciding the visual treatment of the music video. It’ll probably be shot indoors in a warm, cosy, small, dimly lit room and will feature me playing my guitar,” said Nautiyal as he spoke about what he has in mind for the video of Meherbaani‘s third rendition.
After debuting with Ek Mulaqaat in Sonali Cable, Nautiyal will also be seen scoring and singing a couple of songs for Rocky Khanna’s Mastaan, a gangster film set against the ’90’s when Mumbai was ruled by the gangsters. Nautiyal is also composing the music for a rom-com, also directed by Khanna and produced by Cinematique Entertainment which, “is about a singer-songwriter’s life journey and I am the voice behind the protagonist,” said Nautiyal about his upcoming venture for which he has composed the music too.
