Varun Dhawan set the stage ablaze with his performance on Aaj mera Jee karda from Badlapur. Bollywood’s newest action hero was raring to go as he broke bottles and a podium too during his act. He entered the stage on a tank and also rapped using his own voice. Dhawan also had to stomp on old wobbly spray painted cars for which he had to practise several times. During rehearsals when the fireworks didn’t spark off from the tank, he was continously trying and his determination to fix it finally paid off.
Dhawan says, “This is the third time I am performing for the Life OK Screen Awards and it has always been special. This act consumed a lot of energy and it actually took a lot out of me. Badlapur is also about to release and the organisers, and choreographers wanted me to do something edgy, which is why they largely stuck to keeping it a grunge act. The live rap and stomping on the car was added to make it a visual spectacle. Breaking the glass was also risky. Training for ABCD 2 helped me improvise immensely for the act.”
