Writer Milap Zaveri, who was earlier expected to make his debut as the director with Oh La La, announced a new project titled Mastizaade last week. Actress Sunny Leone has been roped in as the lead, with her character named as Laila Lele, in this sex-comedy, which according to the director will be a notch above other films in the same genre like Masti and Grand Masti, both of which were penned by Zaveri.
When contacted, Zaveri confirmed the news and stated, “We are very excited to have Sunny on board. As a writer, I have been successful with this genre and now, it’s going to be a challenge for me to prove my mettle as a director in the same space. With Sunny in the lead, I think half the battle has been won. It will also be exciting to see her try her hand at comedy for the first time.”
Along with Leone, there will be two heroes, who will be the mastizaades in the film. One more actress will be roped in for the project and Zaveri mentioned that he is currently in the process of finalising the cast. Major portions of the film will be shot abroad, while the first schedule will kick off in India by mid-August. “I recently finished scripting Mumbai Saga, so work is keeping me busy. Although I announced Oh La La first, that film will go on the floors only after we finish working on Mastizaade.
