Each new month brings diverse, fresh offerings for gaming enthusiasts. Some of the recently released games on iOS include anticipated titles, which are not only entertaining, but also provide true value for the amount spent to purchase the application (free ones serve as brownie points anyway). Here are some of our favourite games, which should make their way to your iOS device.

Super Monkey Ball Bounce

Price: Free

One can’t help but notice the uncanny resemblance that Sega’s Super Monkey Ball Bounce bears with PopCap’s Peggle, albeit with a little twist. The orientation may be different, but the gameplay is still pretty similar, as you launch balls to clear pegs sitting on the screen, with a little rotating basket on the bottom, which helps the gamer earn extra shots. Despite the similarity, Super Monkey… is great fun, as you bounce and slide your way through various landscapes. The game includes multiple levels, which are well designed, making it a decent fare.

LEGO Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles

Price: Free

All the Yoda fans in the house, this one’s for you. LEGO’s Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles is definitely the best of this lot. It’s one of those few free games that has done away with annoying ads and in-app purchases, which often let you down, no matter how good a game is. Using your favourite character and vehicles to destroy the enemy and complete multiple missions. What we love is the inclusion of mini films, which tells you a story, revealing details of the tasks. With smooth graphics and an exciting gameplay, this one is definitely our pick of the month.

Gemini Strike

Price: Free

This action packed adventure game is superbly designed, taking the overall gaming experience a notch above. Gemini Strike is a vertical, arcade shooting inspired gameplay, where the gamer can blast through enemy ships, evade asteroids and indulge in a face-off against the bosses. Once the blasting is done, the gamer can raid cargo ships to find generated items, that can be used to customise your fighter. The storyline is quite interesting and we like how some of the ships and items can be revived without using credits. Entertaining package for a free game.

Mikey Boots

Price: Free

Post the success of Mikey Shorts and Mikey Hooks, which became extremely popular for its 2D platform gameplay and was presented in a touch screen-friendly format, it looks like BeaverTap Games’ Mikey Boots will follow a similar successful route. Here, the gamer can run and fly through tough 42 different levels, with six interesting environments and two playable characters giving you company. The game includes 230 fun disguises and allows the gamer to compete against friends on Game Centre. Good fun!

Price: $ 4.99

With in-depth tactical gameplay, CounterSpy is another favourite. It’s an entertaining, full-fledged PlayStation game. Set in the Cold War, CounterSpy is an espionage game, where the player needs to stop a crazy, powerful individual, from launching deadly nuclear missiles. Your character, a budding agent, needs to sleathily foil his plans, to maintain world peace. Since the game follows procedural content generation, the changing missions always offer something fresh. Although the controls can get a little tricky, the gameplay is brilliant for gaming enthusiasts to invest in it.
