Gulshan Grover wrote a letter to Forest Minister Patangrao Kadam on behalf of PETA, demanding the release of the 14-year-old elephant Sunder. The actor has joined the campaign along with many celebrities urging the officials to immediately transfer Sunder to a sanctuary in Bangalore. After he was donated to the Jyotiba temple in 2007, Sundar has been kept chained and PETA has got a video footage showing the mahout beating him with a pole.
At a simple ceremony in Kerala, Ashi Dua, founder of Flying Unicorn Entertainment, married hotelier Sunny Sara. The two had met through common friends about a year ago. The 28-year-old from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh produced Bombay Talkies in 2013, to pay a tribute to 100 years of India cinema. Minissha Lamba, Anurag Kashyap, Sonam Kapoor and Harman Baweja who is Ashi’s cousin, were present at the wedding.
Aamir Khan reportedly met Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Sadanand Date at Mumbai Police Headquarters last week to register a complaint with the Mumbai police. He alleged that some “false and malicious messages” were being circulated on social networking sites Twitter, Facebook and Whatsapp to damage his image and reputation of his issue-based show Satyamev Jayate (SMJ). The show went on air two weeks back and has been receiving a good response.
A ban has been sought on Total Siyappa for its ‘anti-national’ content, by a Hindu right wing organisation. The film was released on March 7. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), in their representation to the Central Board of Film Certification, has demanded cancellation of the film’s censor certificate. Strong objection was taken to certain dialogues in the film, which is a story of a Pakistani man in love with an Indian girl. The film is directed by E Niwas.
