Actress Sandeepa Dhar, who made her debut in Rajshri’s Isi Life Mein and did a small cameo in Dabangg 2, has an array of films lined up this year; the first being Heropanti starring Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon in the lead. Although she is missing from the major promotional posters of the film, the actress plays the parallel lead named Renu, who is Sanon’s sister. “I will be seen playing a strong-minded, free spirited girl in the film, who hails from Haryana. She has been brought up by her father as she has lost her mother at a very young age. She is not your regular girl from a small town, since the character has various shades,” said Dhar.
Following Heropanti, Dhar will be seen playing the lead along with Kunal Roy Kapur and Vir Das in Viacom 18 Motion Picture’s Golu and Pappu. Here, the actress will essay the role of a crassy, abusive girl, who loves picking up a fight. “It’s Sia (her character) who instigates a fight between Golu and Pappu, played by Kunal and Vir respectively,” mentioned Dhar, adding that the film is currently in post-production and will hit the screens by September this year.
Dhar is currently working on director Manoj Tiwari’s Global Baba, a satire based on a few fake baba’s across the country, and how they fool people under the disguise of religion. The film stars Gulal actor Abhimanyu Singh in the lead role, is 60 per cent complete and the crew is currently shooting for the film in Uttar Pradesh. “Global Baba is completely different from the other two films. Here, I play a journalist named Bhavna, who works for a small news channel and how her life changes due to a small incident. The film revolves around my character and will release by October- November this year,” adds Dhar. The actress has also signed a comedy film, which will take off next month. “I can’t really talk about the project, but it’s going to be a lot of fun,” she quips.

The film will introduce Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon, and Khan wanted new faces to give freshness to the film. But getting the right actor for a particular part which included Sanon’s family members who belong to a small town and young Shroff’s friends from his university. “There were these diverse parts and we auditioned close to 1000 aspiring actors from stage and theatre and we had set aside one month for the auditions. So except for one established face whose identity I cannot reveal, all the actors in Heropanti are new,” said Khan.
