“The song demanded Kanika’s voice, which is sensual, feminine and yet innocent. We also wanted to recreate the magic of Baby Doll, which is why we roped her in,” said Bhattacharya whose brief to the singer was to sing as if she were singing it for her dream boy.
“The song is the reflection of a girl’s dreams and aspirations. Chittiyaan kalaiyaan means fair hands and the girl here is thinking about the kind of man she would like to be with and how she wants him to pamper her. While discussing the song’s Punjabi lyrics, he said the word Chittiyan sounds rhythmic too and praised lyricist Kumaar for writing such inventive lyrics.
“The lyrics are out of the box and Kumaar has the ability of playing with words. He has invented the word requesta. Like he has penned it Mann jaa ve… mainu shopping kara de. Mann jaa ve… romantic picture dikha de. Requestaan paayiaan ve.. “We’ve used big drums, a little bit of dub steps in the beginning of the song, trap music, rap and electronic beats.
While the melody has an electronic dance music bent, the song’s flavour is Indian and is yet underground with a dark feel,” explained Bhattacharya while describing the composition. Meet Bros Anjjan has also composed the song Beparwaha from Baby. The film, which is about a group of people who nail terrorists, does not contain any songs except the former which features at the end of the film.
“Beparwah is a dark, thrilling number and is essentially about the unpredictable nature of life. Neeraj Pandey’s films have no songs. I was told to score a backgroud score like the one heard in James Bond films,” says Bhattacharya describing the brief he was given to compose music for Baby’s sole track. “The music is underground and has a mysterious edge to it. It has been composed using the guitar, live drums and does not contain much instrumentation. The song’s vocals resemble those heard in opera performances,” said Bhattacharya as he described the song’s composition.
Bhattacharya has also composed two songs for Sanjay Sharma’s Ishq Junoon Passion of Love, which only he has worked on. He has scored two songs for the film, one is a romantic number while the other is a dance song. “The love song titled Phir tu has been sung by Mohit Chauhan. It’s a slow number which contains notes of the guitar, live drums, flute and some electronic instruments that have helped in creating the virtual sounds. The dance song is a club number and is predominantly an EDM number.”
Some of Bhattacharya’s upcoming projects with Meet Bros Anjjan include Bobby Khan’s Leela, Milap Zaveri’s Mastizaade, Amrit Pal’s Babu Ki Jawaani and Welcome Back.
