Looks like Rajkummar Rao has caught the attention of film-makers post critically acclaimed films like Kai Po Che, Shahid and Queen. The actor has now been roped in for Ramesh Sippy’s film, which is the director’s comeback vehicle. Sippy’s last directorial venture was the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zamaana Deewana in 1995.
When contacted, Rao said, “Yes, it’s true that I’m doing Ramesh Sippy’s film, but it’s still going to take some time before we start working on it, so it’s too early to talk about it.”
While refusing to divulge more details about the project, Rao confirmed that it’s a romantic film. The female lead of the film is yet to be finalised. Right now, Rao is shooting Arbaaz Khan’s Dolly Ki Doli with Sonam Kapoor. Meanwhile, he has also finished shooting for Hansal Mehta’s City Lights. While he plays a Jatt boy in Dolly Ki Doli, he had to speak in a Rajasthani accent for City Lights, which is set to release on May 30.
Yash Raj Films’ Daawat-E-Ishq, which has Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead and was earlier scheduled to release on May 9, has now been postponed. The film has been pushed due to the delay in post-production work and the company’s need for a new marketing strategy plan to promote the film. A spokesperson from the company confirmed the development. A new release date for the film is expected to be announced by the end of this month. Directed by Habib Faisal, the romantic film also stars television actor Karan Wahi.
