The 1980 classic Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai was about a Christian car mechanic and his struggles. It had Naseeruddin Shah playing the protagonist with Shabana Azmi and , Smita Patil as his co-stars. The film is now being presented into a conceptual remake. The independent venture is directed by Soumitra Ranade, who had earlier worked on Jajantaram Mamantaram. Manav Kaul, who has done films like Kai Po Che and CityLights, will be seen playing the protagonist in the remake.
“Nandita Das has been paired opposite me while Saurabh Shukla will also be seen in a very interesting role,” said Kaul. A road movie, the film was shot in Mumbai, Goa and the Mumbai-Goa highway. The shooting is complete and the film is currently in the post-production stage. It will tentatively release in September or October this year.
“The best part about the film is that Nandita will be seen playing seven different characters. However, it is not an exact replica of the 80s film but, the characters are the same. There is Albert and Dominic. But, our take and the situations are different,” revealed Kaul. L
