Shoojit Sircar’s Piku will have four principal characters. While Amitabh Bachchan, Irrfan and Deepika Padukone had been confirmed, it is now learnt that Moushumi Chatterjee has also been confirmed to be part of the film. In fact the actress will be playing Bachchan’s sister-in-law!
The film is being produced by Sircar and Ronnie Lahiri’s Rising Sun Films, Sony’s MSM Motion Pictures and Saraswati Entertainment Creations Limited.
“Earlier Sony has produced small films and this is the first time they will be part of a big project. The movie will take off in Mumbai in the first week of August and then travel to Delhi and Kolkata. It releases on April 30, 2015,” said Ronnie Lahiri.
Meanwhile, the cast of Piku, which also includes Bengali actor Jisshu Sengupta, is well prepared with details of their respective roles before the film takes off. They attended an extensive workshop this month, which helped them understand not only their own but also each other’s character in the film.
