Meat is off the menu at many restaurants with people around the world turning vegetarian and vegan. As the trend accelerates, India too celebrates it. In a country where the majority of the population is vegetarian, the talent hunt show – Masterchef – in its fourth season of the Indian version, is all set to turn vegetarian.
Ashish Golwalkar, non-fiction head, Star Plus, says that India has a rich heritage of vegetarian food which hasn’t been celebrated. “And why just India, there are various cuisines around the world that are vegetarian and people are unaware about it. We want to bring all those recipes to the fore,” he says while informing that the show would also be breaking the myth that vegetarian food can’t be exotic. “Usually, there’s a mindset that the vegetarian cuisines are not exotic but it’s completely wrong,” he states.
The show, that is going to 24 cities for auditions this time, will see the return of chef Sanjeev Kapoor as the judge and face of the show. “We are still to decide the other two judges,” says Golwalkar, also adding that the basic format of the show remains the same.
The auditions of the show kicked off on October 16 in Ranchi and will culminate on November 16 in Mumbai.
