Jimmy Shergill, who was last seen in Fugly, will now play Chief Jimmy in a kid’s film titled Shortcut Safari. The film, which is directed by Amitabha Singh, is an entertaining and informative story that revolves around a group of urban, school-going children who are lost for three days in a forest during their annual academic excursion. It’s a story of exploration and adventure, where the children try to stop two poachers from killing a tiger. Along the journey, they gain values on mutual respect and team-spirit along with understanding the relevance of a sustainable environment with a balanced wild-life on the other. “I am playing a character who had no qualms about destroying nature, but realises the importance of a green environment. Amitabha is a good friend and when he asked me to do the film, I couldn’t say no and the film’s script is also great. It’s a children’s film, so it opened the National Children’s Film Festival in Delhi, and we hope to release it soon.” The film’s release date is yet to be locked. Shergill will also be part of Aanand Rai’s Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
