Director Sanjay Gupta who had announced Jazabaa with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at the Cannes Film Festival this year, says that he plans to showcase the film at the fest in 2015. Talking about the movie Gupta says, “The film is an action thriller. With Aishwarya returning to the big screen and an ensemble cast comprising Irrfan, Shabana Azmi and Anupam Kher, the expectations from the film are sky-high. We plan to go to Cannes, not to enter it in the competition section, but to explore the non-conventional markets.”
Jazbaa is about the crisis that a single mother and her daughter face as the story progresses. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, the film will be co-produced and co-funded by White Feather Films and Essel Vision Production Limited.
Essel Vision’s CEO, Nittin Keni, adds “The film’s genre has not been exploited before and will definitely stand out. It’s based on a Korean film and with the cast that we have on board, we are really excited about the film. Taking it to Cannes will be amazing.” The film will be made on a tentative budget of Rs.30 crore and will be based and shot in Mumbai. Jazbaa is slated to go on floors on January 10, 2015.
