While it is a known fact that music composer Ismail Darbar is currently busy donning the role of a director, he has confirmed that he will also be composing all the songs in the yet untitled project. There will be six songs in the album, out of which, five tracks have already been recorded. “The album is going to be a mix of romantic, sensual, intense and soulful tracks, which are composed keeping my signature style intact. I am looking forward to the response, since it is the first time that I am juggling two roles, that of a director and music composer,” stated Darbar.
He also confirmed that a lyricist from Pakistan will be making his Bollywood debut in this project, but remained tight-lipped when asked for more details. For someone who has worked with new talent in every film, (remember Shreya Ghoshal in Devdas?) Darbar added that he is launching Bengali singer Sanchita with this project and has already recorded a number with her. “She is a talent to look out for,” quipped Darbar. He has also worked with Pakistani singer Javed Bashir, who is well known for his rendition of Tera naam japdi phiran in Cocktail, on a romantic number in the film.
When asked about reports of him working for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next, Bajirao Mastani, Darbar rubbished the rumours. “I was just talking about my friendship with Sanjay and how all the wrong information about our cold war have always done the rounds. I have absolutely no idea about how a simple statement got converted into breaking news about Bajirao Mastani. It is not true. Right now, I am only focusing on my directorial venture,” stated Darbar.
