There’s a scene in Revolver Rani which has Kangana Ranaut, who plays a political goon of Gwalior, judging a male beauty pageant called Crazy Underwear Chambal Dud No 1. Sai Kabir, the film’s director, got the idea for the sequence when he was doing a recee of the city before the shooting. He was witness to one such event and finding it extremely funny, he wanted to include it in his film with locals from Gwalior and Chambal where the comedy drama is based, participating , to make it look more authentic. “We managed to get 50 local boys to be a part of the scene because like all people from small towns, they were very excited to be part of the film. But when they came on the sets and learnt that the scene required them to walk the ramp in their underwear, they wanted to back out! They said their families would disown them if they learnt of what they were doing. Our team had to work on them and eventually managed to convince them to agree saying that this was their chance to be part of great cinema. Once on board, they were very enthusiastic and the scene which was scheduled for two days, was canned before time,” said Kabir.
Revolver Rani, whose cast also includes Vir Das and Piyush Mishra, releases on April 25. It is produced by Wave Cinema.

Vir Das’ take on the scene

For actor Vir Das also, this was an extremely terrifying shot. Talking about his experience in this shot, he says, “We were shooting in Gwalior, and I knew I had to shoot in an underwear. What I didn’t expect was that over 10,000 people would turn up to watch the shooting. That was terrifying because I’m used to performing for large crowds, but not in my underwear. I think that was a first for me.

Fun in Rishikesh

Ayushmann Khurrana who is presently shooting for Dum Laga Ke Haisha in Rishikesh, is thoroughly enjoying the shoot, as is evident from his Instagram posts. The actor had posted a picture of him on a terrain vehicle, and added, “The all terrain vehicle on location at the banks of Ganga in Rishikesh. Later, the camera will be mounted on this to shoot the climax of Dum Laga Ke Haisha.” Another picture that the actor posted had him on a bike, thoroughly enjoying himself.
